The simple salt supply for cattle, horses, sheep, goats and deer

Herbivores in particular do not consume enough sodium chloride due to their natural and low-salt diet. In the case of animals that are mainly kept in the stall, the basic feed does not cover the requirements either. However, both sodium and chloride have vital functions in the organism. Sodium is a central building block for the growth and overall development of animals. As a component of gastric acid, chlorine regulates the acid-base balance. In addition, the animals can hardly store both substances and therefore have to be fed regularly. In the worst case, it can lead to a sodium deficiency, which only becomes noticeable quite late in cows, for example. Possible signs can be fertility problems, cysts or reduced milk production. Therefore, care should always be taken to ensure that the salt intake is species-appropriate.
